How long does vehicle wrapping take?

A full colour change wrap typically takes 3–5 working days depending on the vehicle's size and complexity. Smaller jobs like dechromes or roof wraps can often be completed in a single day. Commercial vehicle graphics and fleet branding projects depend on scope — I'll provide a clear timeline during the quoting process. I operate from professional facilities in Thirsk, Yorkshire and Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.

How long does vinyl wrap last?

High-quality cast vinyl films from manufacturers like 3M, Avery Dennison, Oracal and Hexis are rated to last 5–7 years or more with proper care. Longevity depends on factors including UV exposure, wash frequency and whether the vehicle is garaged. I only use premium-grade films on every project to ensure the best possible durability.

Can wraps be removed?

Yes — one of the biggest advantages of vinyl wrapping is that it's fully reversible. A professionally applied wrap can be safely removed using heat, revealing the original paintwork underneath in its preserved condition. I also offer a professional vinyl removal service for vehicles in Yorkshire and Norfolk if you'd like assistance.

Will wrapping damage my paint?

No. When applied and removed correctly by a professional, vinyl wrapping actually protects your original paintwork from stone chips, minor scratches and UV fading. The key is using high-quality cast films and proper heat-assisted removal techniques — exactly the process used on every TayJay Wraps installation.

Can leased vehicles be wrapped?

Absolutely. Because vinyl wrapping is non-permanent and fully removable, it's an ideal modification for leased or financed vehicles. Many lease companies actively approve wrapping as it protects the vehicle's paintwork. The wrap is simply removed before the vehicle is returned, leaving the factory finish intact.

How much does a vehicle wrap cost?

Pricing varies depending on the vehicle type, the service required, the vinyl film selected and the complexity of the installation. A full colour change wrap on a standard car typically starts from around £2,000–£3,000. Smaller services like dechromes or roof wraps start from around £200. Commercial vehicle graphics and fleet branding are priced per project. The best way to get an accurate price is to request a free, no-obligation quote.

I operate from two professional installation facilities: Yorkshire Valets & Tints in Thirsk, North Yorkshire (YO7 3TQ) — serving clients across York, Northallerton, Yarm, Harrogate, Leeds and the wider Yorkshire region; and DC Prestige in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk (NR31 0LT) — serving clients across Norfolk and East Anglia. I also travel UK-wide for motorsport trackside work.

What is Paint Protection Film (PPF)?

Paint Protection Film is a transparent, self-healing urethane film applied to the most vulnerable panels of your vehicle — typically the bonnet, wings, mirrors and bumpers. It shields against stone chips, scratches and minor abrasions while remaining virtually invisible. Unlike vinyl wrapping, PPF is designed specifically for protection rather than colour change, making it ideal for preserving original paintwork on new, leased or valuable vehicles.

How do I care for a wrapped vehicle?

Wrapped vehicles should be hand-washed using a pH-neutral shampoo and a microfibre wash mitt. Avoid automatic car washes with brushes, as these can damage the vinyl surface. For best results, park in shade or a garage when possible, and consider applying a vinyl-specific sealant every few months to maintain the finish and extend the wrap's lifespan.
